Want to try to Paddle Outrigger - Here is the info about our club

PLEASE NOTE:  The Maui Canoe Club is operational.  However, in accordance with the current Maui County Health Emergency Rules, paddling is limited to members only, visitors are not permitted.  Members returning from travel must satisfy all current Maui County quarantine requirements.   Please check back for updates to this policy.

We invite you to paddle with Maui Canoe Club as a visiting member to see how you like Hawaiian Outrigger Paddling.  Each canoe is captained by a certified steersperson.  In addition, experienced Maui Canoe Club members accompany each boat to assist new paddlers.  We provide paddles and instruction. You bring your enthusiasm!  We can almost guarantee that you will get hooked - as each of the Club members did when they tried paddling for the first time.

Once on the water, we take part in an exciting adventure in the canoe as we paddle together to improve physical and mental strength, to make new friends, to overcome fear, and to encourage and learn from one another.   Wear clothes that can get wet.  Bring water and sun protection.   Winter brings humpback whales to our area so you never know when one might come up for a look. We might see any kind of wildlife, including turtles, rays, dolphins, and rainbows. This is not a ride, but rather you will be a full participant in the paddling.  There are times to rest (lawa) and chat and your steersman will remind you that you can "call yourself out" if you get too tired.

When:  We paddle at 7:30 am, (and 8:30 am if captains available), Monday thru Friday year around.  Arrive at the beach by 6:50 am.  We meet at the picnic table by the storage container.  There you will be helped to get started, including signing waivers, providing you with a paddle and some instruction.

Where:  Maui Canoe Club is located at Sugar Beach in North Kihei, at mile post 3 on North Kihei Rd. Watch for red, white, and blue canoes.
